I really wasn’t planning on going to this show but at the very last minute a friend hit me up with an extra ticket and I said what the hell.

I missed the first two acts, Thrown Into Exile and BAEST. Funny enough I think Thrown Into Exile opened one of the Death Angel Christmas shows a few years back.

So the first band I saw was Fit For An Autopsy. In 2025 I have no idea if the term “djent” is still even used but that’s the only way I can describe these dudes. They are 100% textbook definition of “djent”. It may not be my cup of tea but they did their thing well.

Now we have the legendary Arch Enemy. They always put on a solid, powerful Metal show. I’ve seen them many, many times over the years and they are consistent as all hell. The only difference, and I guess it’s a major one, is the switching of vocalists over the years. Their current vocalist, Alissa White-Gluz does a fine job and her voice is stronger than a lot of men doing the growl thing out there BUT I will always prefer the previous vocalist, Angela Gossow. Who manages the band now oddly enough. Angela had such a command of the stage. She was like a drill sergeant up there. Again, no dis to Alissa. She has big shoes to fill and does a fantastic job.

It’s always a pleasure to see Sharlee D'Angelo up there hammering away on the bass. I’ve seen him many times with Mercyful Fate throughout the 90’s and I think I saw him with Witchery but I’m not entirely sure about that. Man, remember Witchery? That first album spread like wildfire when it came out in the late 90’s. So fucking awesome. We need more Witchery nowadays. He also plays bass for an amazing AOR type band called The Night Flight Orchestra which also features the singer for Soilwork. Sharlee’s resume is more impressive than most and I respect the hell out of him.

Of course Michael Ammot always puts on a wonderful show of fretboard gymnastics. I mean the dude played on Carcass’ Necroticism and Heartwork so he’s a bonafide legend in my book. A fun time was had and I was even home by 11. I’m old.
