Frolic is one of those metal bands that you become a fan of the first time you see them live, even if you weren’t familiar with them before. At least that was the case for me, when I saw them twice at the beginning of 2023, first opening a show with Mordred and Blind Illusion, then just a month later catching them headline a smaller club with Hellhunter supporting.
For a young metal band they have a stage presence and professionalism that grabs your attention right away, but they are still having a good time on stage.
Frolic’s newest release, “Live at the Great American Music Hall” gives you a glimpse of that great live band, with 5 songs recorded when they opened one of the Death Angel 2023 Christmas shows. A cool Death Angel tradition inspired by the Beatles of all things, and an annual tradition at one of San Francisco’s better clubs, the Great American Music Hall.
For those not familiar with Frolic’s music, a cover of the classic Exodus song “A Lesson in Violence” is one of the 5 tracks too.
This live album is self-released, available on CD from Frolic’s Merch site, or via digital download at Frolic’s bandcamp.
