NITE releases “Cult of the Serpent Sun”

Writer: HecticHectic

I’m a big NITE fan, after first seeing them live in 2019 opening a local show at Thee Parkside here in San Francisco. I bought their first 2 records, 2020's Darkness Silence Mirror Flame and 2022’s Voices of the Kronian Moon, and those albums get fairly regular rotation on my turntable.

So when I saw the bandcamp notification announcing their third record Cult of the Serpent Sun, I was pretty excited immediately.  NITE is one of a relatively small group of bands where I immediately click through an email announcing a new release and pre-order the vinyl.

NITE’s style of blackened metal vocals, delivered in a quieter, more even tone than some more aggro black metal vocal styles, isn’t for everyone. But personally I think it works amazingly well over the classic metal sound and soaring guitar work.

And I like that their style of blackened heavy metal doesn’t sound exactly like 100 other bands either. They have their own sound, you might say.

And if you are reading this, you might be somewhere in Northern California, so don't forget the NITE record release show:
